  1. An interesting sequenced lick in G Harmonic minor.  It starts and finishes on a G note and has a sixteenth note count.  Because of the quickness of the tempo, you will want to maximise your pick strokes by alternating.

  3. One way you can cheat and gain a bit of speed is to play D on the 15th fret with an upstroke, but then follow the 14th fret (A) on the G string with another upstroke.  So we now do two upstrokes.

  5. Continue alternating from that point up to the 14th fret (F#), which should be an upstroke (if you're alternating correctly).  Reach behind to grab that 15th fret (D) with another upstroke and finish off the lick.

  7. This type of pick stroke substitution is more of an exception, and not a rule.  I don't recommend double upstrokes normally.  In fact, if you can alternate your pick strokes all the way through it I would encourage you to do so.
